Galatasaray have reached an agreement to sign former Chelsea midfielder Lesley Ugochukwu from Burnley on a loan deal with a buy option, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
The deal is reportedly worth £30 million in total. Galatasaray will pay £5 million for the initial loan, with an option to make the move permanent for £25 million if the agreed conditions are met.
Ugochukwu is expected to travel to Istanbul to complete the move after the final paperwork and contract are signed. Although his contract with Burnley runs until 2030, the Turkish champions have moved quickly to secure his services.
The 21-year-old joined Burnley from Chelsea last summer for £23 million after spending the previous season on loan at Southampton. During the 2025/26 Premier League campaign, he made 35 league appearances for Burnley, starting 27 matches while scoring three goals and providing one assist.
At Galatasaray, Ugochukwu will strengthen a midfield that already includes Lucas Torreira, Mario Lemina, Gabriel Sara, İlkay Gündoğan, Yunus Akgün and Renato Sanches. He becomes the club’s second signing of the summer transfer window after goalkeeper Batuhan Şen arrived on a free transfer from Fatih Karagümrük.
According to Pulse Sports Nigeria, Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen, who plays for Galatasaray, played an important role in convincing Ugochukwu to make the move to the Turkish club.
Burnley’s relegation from the Premier League at the end of last season is also believed to have influenced Ugochukwu’s decision to seek a new challenge with the Turkish champions.
