The French Football Federation plans to sign all formal documents with Zinedine Zidane after the end of the World Cup. Zidane never considered any other proposal over the last 8 months; he only wanted the France job, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Zinedine Zidane is set to take over as new France manager after the World Cup. Zinedine Zidane has been out of work since he left Real Madrid in May 2021, when he voluntarily resigned after winning the Champions League 3 consecutive times.

France recently lost 2- 0 to Spain in the World Cup semi-finals, which means they will play a 3rd place match against England on Saturday, 18th July, 2026. The match proved to be an embarrassing exit in which they played second fiddle to Spain for most parts of the game, but reaching the semi-finals means that Didier Deschamps could at least end his France managerial career on a high.

The 3rd place match against England will most likely be Deschamps’ last match as manager of the France national team, and he will be looking to redeem himself after France lost out on the opportunity to challenge for the World Cup by advancing to the finals as they did in 2022.
