Real Madrid have reportedly reached an agreement to sign RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande in what could become the most expensive transfer in the club’s history after Paris Saint-Germain officially withdrew from the race for his signature.

PSG confirmed their decision in a statement released to Sky Germany, describing the player’s salary demands and Leipzig’s asking price as “completely disproportionate and distorting”. The French champions insisted they would not compromise their principles of rational financial management and maintaining a balanced squad structure.

The Ivorian international had been heavily linked with a move to PSG, with reports suggesting the player preferred a switch to Paris ahead of interest from Liverpool, Manchester City and Real Madrid. However, the French giants have now ended all negotiations.

Real Madrid, on the other hand, have reportedly agreed personal terms with the 19-year-old and are prepared to meet Leipzig’s financial demands.

According to reports, the Spanish giants will pay a total package worth 135 million euros if all add-ons are met. The deal would surpass the transfer fees paid for Jude Bellingham and Eden Hazard, making Diomande the most expensive signing in Real Madrid’s history.

The guaranteed fee is expected to be between 115 million and 120 million euros before performance-related bonuses are included.

Diomande is regarded as one of Europe’s brightest young attacking talents. Known for his pace, dribbling ability and creativity, the teenager has quickly risen through the ranks since making his senior debut in March 2025 against Real Madrid.

Despite his undeniable talent, the move represents a significant gamble for Los Blancos. The winger has made just 60 senior appearances for club and country, highlighting his limited experience at the highest level.

Less than two years ago, Diomande was still studying and training at a private sports and educational institution in Florida before making his breakthrough in professional football.

While PSG deemed the financial demands excessive, Real Madrid appear convinced that Diomande has the potential to become a key figure in their attack. The youngster is expected to slot into the right side of Madrid’s frontline if the deal is completed.

Should the transfer go through, it will rank among the biggest deals in world football and further underline Real Madrid’s commitment to investing in the next generation of global stars.
